Reading update
I recently finished The Will of the Many which was one of those door-stopper fantasy novels that are a million pages long. It was okay--a page-turner, but nothing particularly original. It also felt very YA, despite the fact the author was trying so damn hard for it not to be. I liked it enough to request the sequel from the library, at least.
I have just started reading Audition, by Katie Kitamura. It's one of those quiet literary fiction novels where all the drama and tension is in what's not being said. And surprisingly gripping! It's nice to read something a bit different.
I have a couple more books in the pile; Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh, which was a recommended read, and Wide Sargasso Sea, which is on the 100 greatest novels list. I read it at University but remember very little about, so I thought it was worth a re-read.
