Life admin continues
Two more pieces of progress on the move: firstly, I got a job (a seasonal retail job, so not life changing, but income + routine + meeting new people is all good) and secondly, I had my 'new patient appointment' with my 'Primary Care Provider'.
This was an experience. They spent an hour with me. In the UK, you're lucky to get 10 minutes if you're sick. They were also very proactive. I got all my baseline vitals taken, including blood. The blood was taken right then and there, no booking an appointment for three weeks later. The results turned up within 24 hours. They gave me a flu shot. They also referred me for a mammogram (apparently it's over 40 in the US). And they referred me to an ObGyn for a pap smear.
Anyway, the blood test showed that I have low vitamin D, my B12 is back on the verge of too low, and... I have high cholesterol??? I am pretty miffed about that last one. I thought I ate pretty healthy! But I guess I need to start paying more attention.
So far, everything has been covered by the insurance. Navigating a new system is tricky, but we're getting there.
